waits for us

 

We know that you have been waiting for us

but we had a tough time accepting

the longstanding invitation

preferring distraction or addiction

to the likelihood of complete surrender

and transformation

 

We spent too much time learning

the world’s ways to easily let go of them

and be one who Creator sets free

 

Still you come to us

reminding us we are not who or what

we think or have come to believe

but something almost eternal

coming into being

becoming a conscious part

Driveway wants clearing

another snow coming shortly

shoveling can wait

 

A day's routines help

or hinder seeing beauty

live in snowy trees

 

Clearing snow from paths

we take between here/there

feels just right for now

 

Storms tearing through here

testing trees, limbs and edges

of the worlds we build

 

Rains dissolving snow

reveal wet brown earth greening

on its moist surface

Considering moments

close to a great mystery

bringing us here now

 

Not far from cities

nearer earth and sky we find

love’s creator lives

 

A listening soul

living in flesh and these bones

to its mind’s delight

 

and dismay as well

changing us into other

to satisfy Love

 

Here, subject to love

curiosity opens

the waiting riches

 

Creation hungers

for us to be its lover

furthering love’s reach

what we touch or touches us

in this love’s body

 

Opening our minds

mystery of consciousness

forming a conscience

 

Love is birthing hope

by blessing life with water

soft soil underfoot

 

Birds come to seeds flung

feeding along with hungry squirrels

and unseen others

 

Frogs call ribbiting

the birds chirping, then quiet

rising and falling
